EX-RC1 CANbus interface

CANbus remote I/O is a method of expanding a PLC system using a CAN‑based communication network to connect distributed I/O modules. Unitronics systems, including Vision and UniStream PLC families, use the EX‑RC1 adapter to enable this functionality.

CANbus remote I/O allows you to place I/O modules away from the main PLC and link them over a robust, noise‑resistant CANbus network. This is ideal for applications where I/O points are spread across a machine or facility

The EX-RC1 remote expansion CANbus interface is suitable for IO expansion on all Vision and Unistream products fitted with a CANbus. This can be added to the smaller display units by using one of the following products

V100-17-CAN CANbus port (Isolated) (V130, V350, V430, V700, Samba)
V100-S-CAN CANbus port (Isolated), Extended Temperature Version

Standard on V570, V560, V1210 and V1040 and USC-P-B10 (UniStream™)

EX-RC1 allows for remote expansion of Unitronics products via CANbus, 12/24VDC

Programmed using Visilogic software, a simple way to add additional Inputs and Outputs to your system. Compatible with standard DIN rail-mounted Vision IO modules. Comes with full technical support and training for our customers. Contact us if you need more information.

The EX-RC1 interfaces between Unitronics Vision OPLCs and remote IO Expansion Modules distributed throughout your system. The adapter is connected to a PLC via CANbus. Each adapter may be connected to up to 8 I/O Expansion Modules. The network may comprise up to 60 nodes, including both PLCs and adapters; note that the PLC must comprise a CANbus port. Communication is via UniCAN, Unitronics’ proprietary CANbus protocol.
The EX-RC1 is run by a factory-installed application. The adapter can auto-detect digital IO Expansion Modules. If the system includes analogue modules, the application must be edited. For more information, refer to the Remote I/O topics in the VisiLogic Help system.
The EX-RC1 may either be mounted on a DIN rail or screw-mounted onto a mounting plate.
